With the Jewish New Year (5771) rapidly approaching, the Jewish Agency for Israel released statistics yesterday that indicate aliyah – immigration to Israel under the Law of Return – continues to steadily increase. According to the numbers, 17,880 new immigrants came to Israel in the Jewish year 5770, an 18% increase from the previous year.

Of the total number of immigrants, around 5,130 people made aliyah from English speaking countries during the year 5770, as opposed to 5,030 during 5769. From the U.S. – 3,350 people migrated, compared to 3,120 last year. There was also an increase in the number of new immigrants from Western Europe from 2,090 last year to 2,420 this year.

In addition, there was a rise in numbers from Latin America and Spanish speaking countries: 1,360 in 5770, compared to 1,230 in 5769. Moreover, this past year Israel became home to new immigrants from what might be considered somewhat unusual places such as Thailand, Hong Kong, New Caledonia, Japan, Tunisia, Mauritius, Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, Malawi, Angola and Uganda.

According to Jewish Agency Chairman Natan Sharansky, “Aliyah is a strategic asset for Israel. It is the most significant way that Diaspora Jewry interacts with Israeli society. The rise in aliyah,” he continued, “is even more impressive because of the de-legitimization campaign against Israel going on today around the world.” Indeed, this news is a joyous way for Israel and world Jewry to begin the New Year.

“Indeed  it is difficult for all other nations of the world to live in the presence of the Jews. It is irritating and most uncomfortable. The Jews embarrass the world as they have done things which are beyond the imaginable. They have become moral strangers since the day their forefather, Abraham, introduced the world to high ethical standards and to the fear of Heaven. They brought the world the Ten Commandments, which many nations prefer to defy. They violated the rules of history by staying alive, totally at odds with common sense and historical evidence. They outlived all their former enemies, including vast empires such as the Romans and the Greeks.  They angered the world with their return to their homeland after 2000 years of exile and after the murder of six million of their brothers and sisters.
 
They aggravated mankind by building, in the wink of an eye, a democratic State which others were not able to create in even hundreds of years. They built living monuments such as the duty to be holy and the privilege to serve one’s fellow men.
 
They had their hands in every human progressive endeavor, whether in science, medicine, psychology or any other discipline, while totally out of proportion to their actual numbers. They gave the world the Bible and even their “savior.”
 
Jews taught the world not to accept the world as it is, but to transform it, yet  only a few nations wanted to listen. Moreover, the Jews introduced the world to one God, yet only a minority wanted to draw the moral consequences. So the nations of the world realize that they would have been lost without the Jews…

A Light to the Nations?

Over the past few weeks, I have watched the latest global uproar over the terrorist flotilla charade incident with a variety of emotions, just like many of you. Six ships filled with humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza attempted to break the Israeli naval blockade. You may know that Israel does not permit certain kinds of materials for construction or other purposes deemed helpful to the terrorist war effort. The people have plenty to eat and most necessities but ships and trucks must check in with Israeli authorities. So what happened when the Israeli soldiers boarded one of the ships, the Mavi Marmara, a Turkish ship with terrorists on board disguised as “protesters”? Some of the 50 odd terrorists hidden among the others attempted to murder the Israeli soldiers who boarded the boat. The soldiers then fought back. Thankfully, no Israeli soldiers lost their lives. Just as in Operation Cast Lead in Gaza and the incursion into Lebanon, the IDF planned for as few casualties as possible. There was an international uproar initiated by all the usual European and Arab media offenders who interview terrorists and use their doctored video footage. It is only Israel that cannot get a fair hearing in the court of public opinion. And tragically, even in the USA the media presents these issues as if Hamas and Israel are on equal moral footing. We are far down the road leading to a time when all nations will seek Israel’s destruction.

Never mind that many of these nations have enemies that they would never permit to threaten their status quo and never mind that the enemy in question, Hamas, conspires to utilize low-intensity warfare and trickery to enable them to obtain war materials, including advanced weaponry. Financed by Iran, they regularly state their intent to destroy all the Jews of Israel. The amazing thing is that this aggression, shooting rockets on civilians for instance, actually confirms the biblical record. The nations appear to hold Israel to a higher standard than they are willing to live by. There is an instinctive sense that Israel should really live up to a higher standard of morality, ethics and even treatment of our enemies. Even in our blinded condition and making many mistakes, the Jewish nation must live by the standards of the Hebrew Scriptures.

Unless threatened with genocide or physically attacked, Israel does not contemplate military action. If Iran were not threatening to use atomic weapons on Israel, she would seek any means possible to avoid armed conflict. If Hamas were not firing rockets, capturing innocent soldiers, or sending suicide teams against us, we would seek ways to avoid further engagement. Now that a newly emboldened Turkey is involved in the process to become the next sponsor of terror against Israel, we will see what provocations or military action will result. Turkey is seeking to be the new leader of the Arab world.

The last two Torah portions make clear the basic responses that God required of Israel. In numbers chapter 20, when Edom refused Israel passage to the land God had promised, even with threats, they wisely did not come out and attack. Thus Israel turned aside and went around the territory of Edom, a torturous journey in which some of the people began to complain and the Lord sent fiery serpents upon them. Israel is not without sin, but woe to those who cause others to stumble. Balaam did just that with his evil counsel (Num.31:16). In Chapter 21, however, the king of Arad, Sihon, and Og were not so wise; they attacked and they were destroyed. Ammon and Moab, the children of Lot, did not come out to meet Israel with food and water (as the Lord decreed Deut. 23:4). As history has shown, the Lord will, in the end, turn the curse against Israel into a blessing!

It is also clear that Israel’s reappearance on the stage of human history signals that the time is near when the kingdom of God will come. Why do the nations rage and why do the peoples plot a vain thing? One day soon, the armies of the whole Earth will take their stand against King Yeshua and we know what the outcome will be. Surely it is gross stupidity to strike out against the apple of God’s eye. Israel’s enemies, Hezbollah, Hamas, Iran and now Turkey are raging against King Yeshua. With their devious deceptions, their willingness to use children as human shields and their psychological warfare tactics in the media, they inflame the anger of God. They inspire people to hate Israel.

It seems that all nations, including the United States, have either mildly condemned Israel or join in the chorus of disgraceful condemnation of Israel. Have you ever wondered who finances these terrorist states? Most of them don’t work in case you haven’t noticed. They work for the “government” or “military”. The nations of the world are financing a criminal Islamic Jihad when they give money to Hamas and the Palestinian Authority. Furthermore, the judgment of God is visited upon all nations who deliberately ignore the truth, hosting the murderous “leaders” of Iran, Syria, Turkey, Hezbollah, and the others, especially those above. The Islamic terrorists themselves operate like organized criminals utilizing drug cultivation, sales as well as prostitution and every form of theft, such as counterfeiting US Dollars to finance their operations. In America and Europe, most Islamic organizations raise funds for illegal terrorist organizations as enforcement is lax. Since the Flotilla incident, President Obama has committed $400 million to Hamas! That’s 400 Million Dollars.

The current disasters for the USA such as the oil spill, massive flooding and the strange new “global recession” triggered by bizarre and illegal financial behavior by banks, multi-national trading entities and governments are no accident. Let’s examine just a few examples from our history of the last 20 years. The primary plan accepted by all fo our Presidents is to divide Israel into two states, one for Israel and the majority for the Arabs.

President Clinton picked up the proposed Oslo process initiated by President Bush and welcomed one of the most evil men since Adolph Hitler to the White House, the arch-terrorist and murderer Yasser Arafat. After he and the Rabin-Peres government invited Arafat to return to Israel from exile in Tunis beginning the Oslo process, they attempted to give him a “State”. All the while the terror war attacks, “intifadas”, were taking place with hundreds of Israelis murdered. After Rabin’s murder, he and his colleagues conspired to undermine the Israeli elections and when Ehud Barak, a compliant leader was elected, he almost succeeded in dividing up Israel completely, enthroning a murderous dictator while making him one of the world’s richest men. The rest of the funds purchase a guerilla army.

President GW Bush helped to found the Quartet, whose members are charged with responsibility to facilitate a new plan to divide Israel and give the Arabs a state on land belonging to Israel. This process began after Arafat died and Abu Mazen, the CFO and terrorist atrocity planner of the PLO organization was promoted as “a man we can make peace with”. He began a program run by the US Military to train and equip a world-class elite military unit as “police” for the new Arab state overseen by General Dayton in Ramallah. Yes, our best training and technology is in the hands of the undeclared new Arab state. Hamas, of course, took over Gaza and is threatening the Palestinian Authority and is funded by Iran. This is the same Hamas that has shot thousands of rockets upon Israeli towns and is receiving 400 Million Dollars from Obama!

President Obama is the living result of judgment upon the USA. He is a Muslim by upbringing and a 20 year attendee at a Church which preaches “Black Liberation Theology”, a doctrine calling for takeover of the USA by blacks and removal of “white devils’ from positions of authority at minimum. Obama called himself a Christian when interviewed by Rick Warren, Pastor of one of America’s largest churches. Upon election, He immediately went on a world tour where he declared in Berlin and Cairo that America was not a “Christian” nation. Obama bowed before the King of Saudi Arabia and received the highest award given in Sunni Islam, the Order Of Merit (a photo is available of this event). He welcomes Abu Mazen to the White House and snubs PM Netanyahu, refusing on one occasion to meet him. He negotiates with Iran knowing full well that they are preparing nuclear weapons while threatening to cut off aid to Israel and demanding that we construct no housing for our growing population. He funds terrorists in contravention of our national policy against listed Terrorist entities.

Where does this all lead? Doesn’t it sound like the biblical record is being played out all over again on a global scale? The nations of the world are being maneuvered into position to permit Israel’s enemies to destroy her. It’s that simple. Balaam and Haman are hard at work. The God who made heaven and earth will once again turn their curses and conspiracies into a blessing upon Israel and all mankind.

As believers in Yeshua the Messiah, it is vital that we pray for America and Israel and be prepared for trouble ahead. The Scriptures teach that the coming period will be one of great stress. The terrorism and natural disasters; the hurricanes, tornadoes and the floods… as well as the signs, such as the economic breakdown and the oil spill, will only increase if America continues her suicidal course of action. If America stands up for Israel, the Lord will look with favor upon us and have mercy on us, sending repentance. But the truth is that our repetitive and continuous actions in the opposite direction bring the wrath of God upon this once great nation. The signs of the coming of Messiah are near.
